Sports Balls
In 2005 our sportsballs were the first sportsballs in Australia and New Zealand to be certified fairtrade. Interestingly nearly 5 years later they are still the only sportsball range to be certified!
That’s not to say that the sports industry has tidied up its act ..because it hasn’t. As recently as the end of 2008 not one but eleven sports brands were implicated not only in the use of child labour but also child slavery!
Not only are our sportsballs certified fairtrade they are also exceptionally high quality and designed to last. We refuse to use PVC the most toxic plastic there is and commonly found in cheaper sport balls. When you see a ball peeling you know it’s made from PVC.
Since we introduced them we’ve sold thousands of them ...soccer, aussie rules, netballs etc. The feedback is nearly always extremely positive ....from individuals to sports clubs and schools.
"I would be delighted and honoured to praise the quality of Etiko footballs. Having been involved in purchasing, playing and coaching for the last 20 years of my life. I can honestly say that the ‘practice’ balls we purchased in February this year are not only still intact, but also show none of the tell tale signs of their inferior competitors”. James ‘Shredder’ Nicholas, Montrose Soccer Club
“The Sports teachers were extremely happy with the performance of the balls in the muddy, wet conditions and have concluded that their long term durability make them a better choice over the cheaper soccer balls of lower quality”. Josephine Powell, Mansfield College
If you are enquiring on behalf of a school or sports club or simply want to order balls in bulk quantities then go to our Wholesale Section.
UPDATE:
As of February 2010. We’ve decided to rebrand our sportsball range as Jinta Sports. We are doing this in order to concentrate on developing a dedicated fair trade sportsbrand ...so keep an eye out for a growing range of products, running tops, track suits and one day jogging shoes! To be kept up to date make sure you subscribe to our on line newsletter (and in the process get a chance to win a $100 gift voucher).
As a result all Etiko branded sportsballs are seriously discounted (time to snap up a bargain!).
By the way 5% off all net sales from the Jinta range will be given to the Mt Theo program which is based in the Northern Territory, Australia helping address substance misuse issues amongst young people in remote Aboriginal communities.
